8 Awesome WWE Matches Ruined By DQ Finishes

8. Brock Lesnar Vs. The Undertaker - Unforgiven 2002

This should probably be prefaced with the fact that this abomination of an ending did lead to a pretty epic Hell in a Cell match the next month...but that doesn't mean we can't rag on just how misguided this finish was in terms of getting the crowd to not riot outside of the arena. The young, imposing Lesnar had just become one of the fastest rookies to win the WWE Championship, defeating The Rock at SummerSlam the previous month. The Undertaker, at the height of his American Badass gimmick, was moving quicker than we'd seen him move in years. Lesnar, working with such a consummate professional in 'Taker, looked better than he had in any prior match. The story was simple and effective, the stamina and athleticism of both men were outstanding (especially considering the age difference), and there was nary a low point to be found throughout the 20 minute affair. Except, of course, for that very last part. After an entertaining melee involving a steel chair and an unconscious ref, there was a silly-looking spot where Lesnar tossed the newly-conscious ref into the corner and Undertaker started punching Lesnar into him. As soon as they called for the bell, the crowd groaned with displeasure. A double disqualification is not how this one should have went. The awkward finale looked considerably out of place in this brutal match. Word is that Lesnar was scheduled to go over clean, but 'Big Evil' nixed that idea. At least 'Taker got to throw Lesnar through the Unforgiven stage setting after the match, given the crowd something to cheer about.
