8 Awful Lessons WWE Programming Has Taught Fans

7. Real Women Are Just Stereotypes

Being a woman in the wrestling world is hard work, because you€™re not portraying what women really are, but rather what men think women should be. That€™s why the divas are pigeon held to gimmicks like Eve Torres as a sexy secretary to her male boss, Beth Phoenix as the comically muscular girlfriend to Santino, and Lita was portrayed as a sex deviant at the end of her career. Or why Lita was Kane€™s bride. Or why Lita was in a love triangle with Jeff and Matt Hardy. Or why Lita€™s real life love affair with Edge was used on live TV in a feud with former real life boyfriend Matt Hardy. Come to think of it Lita was definitely a woman. That explains the bra and thong wrestling attire. It€™s also the reason that Mickeie James was constantly called Piggy James by two of the skinniest women in the WWE at the time, or why there was a storyline about Molly Holly being the villain because she had quite the junk hidden within that trunk. Vickie Guerrero, the most over female villain the WWE had in the past 20 years, was actually oinked out of the arena at one point because in case no one noticed it the WWE wanted to remind everyone she€™s bigger than what they wanted Divas to look like. Basically, if you see a woman showing personality and being all normal sized she€™s probably the devil.
