8 Bad In-Ring Habits That John Cena Needs To Change

2. He Pauses Way Too Long During His Five Knuckle Shuffle

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nubSOBcFYpY The Five Knuckle Shuffle (what a terrible name - it's easily forgotten, but that is a terrible name for a move) is much like the People's Elbow, it requires so much setup that it not only breaks an audience's suspension of disbelief, but it also makes John Cena's opponents look really, really stupid. He gives them a backdrop, and then stands, throwing his hand into the air, waves his hand in front of his face, then runs to the rope, rebounds before stopping again (making the run to the ropes utterly redundant), dusts a bit of lint off his shoulder, then drop a fist on his opponent's dome. It's a very stupid move, and not one that should actually pop the crowd, even though it clearly does. Not just because it doesn't make sense (why does he run to the ropes??), but because, throughout all of the build up, his opponent has to wait patiently, on his back, looking like a chump. When a move requires your opponent to be incapacitated for that long (after just a backdrop remember) then it makes them look weak, makes the match look fake and makes Cena look dumb for building up so long for what is just a fist drop. This isn't to say that Cena has to shelve the move entirely (he totally should), but more that if he's going to do it, he should not showboat as much. It's small, but it's damaging.
