8 Big Questions Raised By Neville Walking Out On WWE

5. What Now For The Cruiserweights?

The cruiserweight division has unravelled over the past few weeks. Neville's initial title run was needlessly interrupted by a six-day Akira Tozawa reign, and handing it over to Enzo Amore suggested that 205 Live was headed in a new, character-driven direction. 'The Realest Guy In The Room' has since dropped the belt to Kalisto, however, and the reinvention now appears to be off the table.

Neville had been cycled out of the title picture, but he would've returned before long. He'd taken on a crazed, unhinged persona soon after dropping the gold, and would've likely continued down that path over the coming weeks, with the division's shallow talent pool necessitating a return to contention. This is now lost.

While Enzo's presence will keep drawing eyes to 205 in the interim, the brand is in real trouble going forward. The division has now lost two major stars in Neville and Austin Aries in recent months. WWE are woefully short of top performers, and they'll be forced to elevate a Mustafa Ali or Cedric Alexander (fine wrestlers, but neither are over) after exhausting the Amore/Kalisto feud. They have enough momentum to keep coasting for another few weeks, but trouble is right around the corner.
