8 Biggest Missed Opportunities From WWE Hell In A Cell 2018
3. Foley's Involvement In The Universal Championship Match
As much as it hurts to say this, Mick Foley added absolutely nothing to the Universal Championship match. Given his history as a special guest referee, his history with the cell and as a former GM of Raw, the bizarre decision to make him referee the evening's main event seemed at least somewhat logical at one point.
While his ability to officiate was typically called into question by Strowman (with a monstrous beatdown even being teased), this would ultimately lead to nothing as Foley would spend the second half of the match watching Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre interfere only to eventually be blinded by Paul Heyman.
Other than being a cheap way to promote the Mick Foley special that was airing on the WWE Network after Hell in a Cell, Foley's involvement in the main event was a complete waste. The company could have come up with a more creative way to involve him in the event because he was easily forgotten in the midst of all the madness.
