WWE Hall of Famer Edge's WWE career didn't get off to the best of starts. His first official televised match was on the June 22nd, 1998 edition of Raw. His opponent was Jose Estrada Jr., best known for being a member of Savio Vega's Los Boricuas stable.

Estrada jumped the Canadian right out of the shoot but Edge came back quickly with a spear and a dropkick, as his opponent took a powder outside of the ring. Then, in something of a freak accident, Edge's foot caught Estrada on the top of the head when he hit him with a somersault plancha.

The Rated-R Superstar went back in the ring to 'show out' and waited for Estrada to get up and follow him back in. That didn't happen: Estrada had suffered a neck injury and wasn't moving. The referee had no choice but to count him out and declare Edge, who looked visibly disgruntled, the winner via countout.

According to Edge's 2004 autobiography Adam Copeland on Edge, the match was supposed to end with his finisher, the Downward Spiral. Estrada had pinched nerves in his neck but would come back for a brief run a short time later, while Edge - aware of how the locker room must have viewed him after the incident - called the man he'd injured every week while he was out on the sidelines.
