8 Epic Wrestling Matches That Would Be Better If They Happened Now

1. Brock Lesnar Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Many wrestling fans who follow WWE exclusively would be stunned to hear that Brock Lesnar and Shinsuke Nakamura already faced each other one on one. Those same fans would probably be even more shocked to find out that the match was pretty bad.

Lesnar and Nakamura met on 4 January 2006, colliding in the main event of Toukon Shidou Chapter 1 for Lesnar's IWGP Heavyweight Championship. The bout was nine minutes long, which means it was actually longer than Lesnar's usual Universal title defences (though far less explosive), but still quite short for a typical main event. The styles clash managed to be both awkward and boring, with Lesnar hitting clubbing blows and Nakamura trying to grab submissions.

Today, the match would be much different. Nakamura would try to be as explosive with his strikes as Lesnar is with his suplexes, and no matter who won, the contest would be a thrill ride. That's no secret to Nakamura, who said upon his signing with WWE that he wanted another chance to have a classic battle with 'The Beast'. Sadly, he looks about as far away from the Universal Title picture right now than at any stage since joining the company.
