8 Greatest Face & Heel Turns In Modern Wrestling History
1. Adam Cole Joins The Elite
The heroes' welcome that greeted Adam Cole at All Out 2021 is undisputedly one of the all-time great AEW moments. As Kenny Omega gloated to the audience in attendance and fans all around the world that they would have to choke on The Elite's brilliance after he vanquished his latest victim, the rage across the AEW landscape was felt in the throats of everybody. That was until Adam Cole's name hit the big screens and all kinds of chaos ensued.
The sight of the greatest ever NXT Champion joining AEW was magnificent. His new entrance music rocked the house, and his "Adam Cole, bay bay" nearly took the roof off of the NOW Arena in Chicago. Cole then stepped up to Omega with the crowd at a fever pitch, the two men standing eye-to-eye and ready to blow, before Cole spontaneously superkicked 'Jungle Boy' Jack Perry and rejoined The Elite.
The attention may have quickly turned to the debut of Bryan Danielson, but the swiftness and unexpected nature of Cole shattering the joy of his arrival in record time remains an incredible reminder that the best heel turns come in unexpected circumstances.
