When you talk about the greatest tag teams of all time, you'd better mention The Road Warriors (aka The Legion of Doom) in your first breath, otherwise no one's going to take anything you have to say seriously after that. There hasn't been a rougher, tougher, more dynamic and menacing team to pass through the Gorilla Position than Hawk and Animal.

Part of what made them so intimidating -- aside from their propensity for turning guys inside out with the most dangerous-looking clotheslines you'll ever see -- was their look, which was loosely inspired by the post-apocalyptic Mel Gibson movie of the same name.

Two huge dudes with creepy face paint wearing football pads with spikes coming out of them? Yeah, that's a terrorizing thing to see walking down the ramp.

Their initial look, however, was more Village People than Mad Max. Dressing head to toe in what you might call "skimpy" leather, Hawk and Animal were briefly known as The Roadies. They always looked ready for a night out on the town at the nearest leather bar, and the chaps just didn't strike fear into the heart of their opponents like the spiked shoulder pads.
