4. Rosa Mendes Has Felt The Need To Announce Her Retirement

Rosa Mendes has retired from in-ring competition.

After a storied career - who could forget such classics as her 02:55 defeat to AJ Lee on the Setember 29, 2014 Monday Night RAW? - she has decided to step away from the spotlight and allow her successors to shine. No sh*t. She was never going to prove her mettle in SHIMMER before staking a late claim in the Women's Revolution. She hasn't wrestled for two years. Of course she's retired. Announcing as much isn't so much insane as absolutely pointless.

Those searching for Mendes on Google might not even be aware that she was a wrestler. She spent so little time in the ring that the first four rows of images contain just one action shot - but dropping the act for a second, I'm pleased that Mendes has found happiness removed from an industry and its players all too quick to prey on her. Hers was the beginning of a sad story, and she did well not to write more chapters of it.

That said, if Rosa Mendes feels the need to announce her retirement from active competition as a professional wrestler, I hereby resign from international football duty to focus more squarely on club matters.
