Although by 2015, NXT fans were clamouring for the super over Sasha Banks to get her run with the promotion's women's championship, it was still something of a surprise when she achieved that goal in the Fatal Four Way co-main event of NXT TakeOver: Rival.

Charlotte was only the second woman to ever hold the title since its inception in 2013, and she'd brought a lot of prestige to the belt, rapidly improving as a wrestler during her eight-month reign. Many expected her to retain the title here, en-route to a single's programme with Sasha. Instead, in a fantastic match, full of great moments and memorable spots, it was Sasha who surprisingly captured the belt when she switched a Bank Statement into a roll-up for the win.

On top of the surprise outcome, although Paige vs Emma and Charlotte vs Natalya had changed a lot of outdated opinions about women's wrestling in North America, the four way match between the workers who would come to be termed 'The Four Horsewomen' of NXT was perhaps the real coming out party for female wrestling in NXT; the spark that ignited the women's revolution in WWE.
