The biggest change the WWE has seen in the last 20 years is the switching of the guard from Vince McMahon to his son-in-law Triple H.

When Vince 'retired' following misconduct allegations in July 2022, Roman was approaching two full years as Universal Champion and showed no signs of slowing down. Despite nearly amassing over 730 days as 'Head of the Table', the whole Bloodline story felt it had run its course. Reigns hadn't made an appearance on a PLE since unifying the two world titles at WrestleMania 38 and only defended the belts once in between 'The Showcase of the Immortals' and SummerSlam.

As soon as Triple H got a hold of the writing pen, he injected some much-needed life back into the family-fuelled drama. Using the seeds that his predecessor had planted, 'The Game' sculptured Sami Zayn into the centre pillar of the Bloodline saga and generated some of WWE's finest storytelling moments of the last decade.

Now how much has actually changed with the creative chair remains to be seen but there is no doubt that Vince is back in some form of influence. You have to ask yourself what is more impressive; Roman being champion under three separate regimes or how he has remained on top for as long as it took Vince to grow a moustache and cosplay as The Simpsons' Ned Flanders.
