2. ‘King’ Cody Rhodes?

Former WWE Champ and poster boy Cody Rhodes doesn't actually have a lot going on as a character right now. Creative could change that in a hurry if they position him as the winner of 2025's King Of The Ring tournament. That'd scratch multiple itches. One, it'd give Cody something to chase on TV. Two, it'd secure that rematch vs. John Cena at SummerSlam.

Another bout between those guys is big enough to headline one of the nights in New Jersey. SummerSlam 2025 will be spread across an entire weekend, so something else bigger/smaller can bag the other evening's top spot. That opens up all sorts of possibilities in the women's division, or for the guys. It's a plus, in other words.

Having Rhodes earn the crown over in Saudi Arabia at Night Of Champions and then nail his colours to the mast for a bid to dethrone the dude who dethroned him sounds tidy. Ideally, Cody would also start to exhibit more of a heel edge so WWE can toy with Cena realising the error of his ways since Elimination Chamber.

John will surely go baby again before hanging up his jorts for good, and there's added value in dabbling with Rhodes as someone who's ready to take the heel leap himself. As a 'King', Cody could begin to believe his own hype and even allege that he should've sold his soul to The Rock so he'd still be WWE Champion.

Whether he goes tweener or sticks to the babyface guise, Cody would be a damn fine pick to wrestle Cena at MetLife in August. The pair probs want to prove they can work a better match than the one at WrestleMania anyway.
