A role that Angle served admirably back in the day, it has to be said. Even WWE would concede that The Authority's schtick is starting to wear thin and the WWE Universe are getting incredibly frustrated with their presence, and not in a good way. They need some new blood in those roles and heading back to the future, if you will, would serve them well. Angle was made SmackDown General Manager in the spring of 2004 after injuries meant he couldn't compete in the ring (at least momentarily). Who could forget how WWE masked those injuries when Big Show literally threw him off a high platform backstage? That crooked leg, man... that crooked leg... At the time, Kurt played the role of a heel boss in a storyline with Eddie Guerrero, costing Latino Heat the WWE Championship against JBL and proving once again that he can be as good a bad guy as there is in WWE. Of course, since I've said it roughly 1,212,549 times throughout this article, Angle's versatility as a performer lends himself to a role like this. And when he needs to, he can step into the ring and take care of business himself just like Triple H is doing at the moment. It'd be a welcome change to see Kurt in charge of SmackDown if Shane McMahon does indeed earn the right to takeover RAW at WrestleMania.
