8 Reasons Finn Balor Will Be WWE's Best NXT Call-Up
5. He's A Great Face... And An Even Better Heel
The aforementioned Club stories wouldn’t be possible without Balor’s ability to operate on both sides of the alignment scale.
NXT fans know him as a big-time babyface, whose fighting spirit, showmanship, and supreme athletic ability have made him the face of the brand. This will serve him well when he moves to the main roster, because aside from Dean Ambrose and Sami Zayn, WWE have struggled to find a face that the fans naturally want to root for. With the Roman Reigns experiment a confirmed failure, there’s a clear pathway to the top of the card, and he’ll already be bringing a considerable fanbase with him from NXT.
Balor has worked hard throughout his NXT tenure to tweak his babyface character, but he hasn’t always been among the good guys. Should WWE decide to introduce him as a heel (with The Club or otherwise), Balor will be right at home. As Bullet Club leader, Balor was an easily detestable bad guy who quickly became one of the most despised men in NJPW. Cool, cocky, and dangerously effective in the ring, Balor is a natural in this role.
It’s unlikely that WWE will do a complete u-turn on Balor’s NXT character when he debuts, but his versatility as both a face and heel will bring countless opportunities for him in the future.
