4. For Such A Nice Guy, He Taunts His Opponents A Lot
This is a criticism that can also be applied to Roman's natural predecessor, John Cena. For someone constantly portrayed as a really good guy, Reigns spends an awful lot of time taunting his opponents - whether they really deserve it or not. The now-infamous "tater tots" promo with Sheamus wasn't just problematic because it was terribly written; it also made the WWE World Heavyweight Champion look like less of a threat. If a face isn't at least wary of the threat posed by a heel, it robs their eventual clash of so much tension. Unfortunately, the modern-day WWE seems intent on reassuring everybody that Roman (like Cena) is emotionally indestructible. He never lets a heel get to him for too long, and always seems to come out on top in verbal exchanges - despite lacking the natural charisma of many of his rivals. Yes, certain past babyfaces such as The Rock and Chris Jericho may have always seemed confident, and on top of any situation, but they always knew when best to betray a sense of vulnerability. So far, Reigns has only done so in the immediate aftermath of Sheamus' cash-in - and he was fine the following week.
