8 Reasons WWE Will Regret Releasing Sasha Banks

7. A Potential Bianca Belair Rematch

It seems inevitable at this point that the latest would-be epic between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns will not only feature but also headline at this years SummerSlam. The pairing is a retread of a retread and it’s not as if the match has ever really delivered to begin with.

By contrast, Bianca Belair delivered an acclaimed match with “The Boss” at WrestleMania 37. It wasn’t the first time women main evented WrestleMania but subjectively it was the best so far. An injury to Banks led to some unfortunate SummerSlam booking for Belair but the upside is the rematch was preserved.

With Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes on the shelf, bringing back Brock feels like panic booking. Banks/Belair II would feel big time. Even if they didn’t want to go that way for this year’s SummerSlam, it was an option WWE had in their pocket whenever they needed it down the road.

Now it looks like we’re unlikely to see that match. At least not under WWE’s banner. Fingers crossed it’s not touted as the big draw at some cringy “legends of wrestling” style Independent show twenty or thirty years from now!
