8 Talents Who Left WWE For Greater Things

7. Shane McMahon

When Vince McMahon first became an on-screen persona after the truth about his position in the WWF became readily apparent, his son Shane started to appear on WWF television as part of the 1998 feud between Vince and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Shane's role slowly grew from that of an occasional cameo to a legitimate authority figure, becoming part of the corporation and a major focus in the invasion angle in which he bought WCW to feud against his father's ownership of the WWF. Shane gathered respect from his fans when he started to compete and take bumps - he gave the role his all. After his wrestling and on-screen career was played out, Shane stepped down as Executive Vice President of WWE Global Media, as he wanted to pursue success on his own terms. In August, 2010, Shane was named the new CEO of China Broadband Inc (eventually renamed YOU on Demand), a provider of reasonably priced pay-per-view, video on demand movies designed to compete with bootleg DVDs. Shane has been with the company four years, and still remains an integral part though he gave up his position of CEO in 2013, now serving as the company's Chairman and Principal Executive Officer. Shane always had a desire to achieve success in the business world away from the WWE, and he's done just that.
