Punk's triceps injury at the 2024 Rumble came up near the end of the show. That was a sobering night for him so soon after a classic comeback, and it forced him to miss out on actively wrestling on the card at WrestleMania 40. Yes, that sucked, but returning to the ring in Cleveland at SummerSlam 2024 was a banner moment for the dude. It meant a lot to him, and marked his first televised WWE singles bout since 2014.

On camera, WWE/ESPN shooters caught Punk having a bit of a cry backstage after his match vs. Drew McIntyre ended. He's shown kissing a training ring's canvas before filming a quick, sweaty chat with Stephanie. During that, Punk said he always loved giving her a post-match sweaty hug to "ruin all of her clothes". Tradition is tradition!

Seriously though, this 'B' roll footage is must see. Punk was visibly weeping tears of joy and relief as he chatted with McMahon, and she found it just as difficult to stop the waterworks herself. The real rekindled camaraderie between them is on full display during this brief spot - it puts a neat bow on the episode and reinforces that Punk and Steph are good pals who have a lot of time for one another.

Physically, Punk had to be screaming after a physical showdown vs. the ever-rugged McIntyre. However, he was overcome with emotion and glad to tick off his first one-on-one match inside a WWE ring for over 10 long years.
