8 Things We Learned From WWE Creation And Destruction: Triple H's Road To WrestleMania

6. Vince Wasn't At TakeOver: New York

NXT is Triple H's baby, and as all parents know, you don't leave your baby alone in the hands of a doddery albeit well-meaning elderly grandfather, prone to fits of whimsy and forgetfulness. But you do at least let them visit, on the assumption they share a certain paternal affection for your own pride and joy.

Stretched metaphors aside, that doesn't seem to be the case with Vince McMahon's Full Sail grandkid. On the basis of the rushes presented in the documentary, WWE's usually omnipresent Chairman was absolutely nowhere to be seen as TakeOver: New York - easily, as the gate proved, the biggest special in the so-called developmental brand's history.

It's perhaps an indication that Vince trusts Triple H implicitly, and doesn't want to to interfere - or simply doesn't care. Either way, it's hugely uncharacteristic, and of all the NXT shows, you'd absolutely have expected him to at least attend if not be involved in this one.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
