8 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Candice LeRae

7. Ahead Of The Social Media Curve

While the social media explosion has had a detrimental impact on the wrestling business in many ways (particularly relating to the protection of kayfabe), its value as a promotional tool can't be denied. Countless wrestlers, independent or otherwise, have sent their visibility skywards through platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, with The Young Bucks' Being The Elite series seen as the benchmark.

The Bucks weren't the first to master the 'Tube, though. Candice and her long-time tag partner Joey Ryan were producing short-form web videos documenting their travels around the independent scene long before the Jackson brothers. Sure, The Candice & Joey Show didn't draw BTE's monstrous viewing figures, but it played a big role in raising both performers' profiles, and it's tough to imagine either reaching their current level of prominence without it.

Most of the episodes are still present and correct on Ryan's YouTube channel, though there hasn't been a new one since May 2016. It's unlikely that the series was devised as a marketing tool, but it certainly became one, with its behind-the-scenes look at their careers giving fans even more to get invested in them as performers.
