8 Things WWE Must Do To Make Paige A Star

5. A Great Babyface Is Only As Good As Their Heel

I recommend anyone who doesn't already follow Jim Ross (@JRsBBQ) on Twitter does so sooner rather than later. This past Monday morning, Ross spoke about the nature of a pro-wrestling heel and what qualities they need to bring to the table to be a success. The discussion comes off of the back of Michael Hayes' comments on Steve Austin's Unleashed Podcast, last Thursday, in which he qualified the success of a babyface as directly proportionate to the quality of his (or in this case, her) heel antagonist. Austin himself had Vince McMahon. The Rock had Triple H. Hulk Hogan had Andre and Roddy Piper, Trish Stratus had Lita, and vice-versa. CM Punk's babyface portion of his 434-day WWE Title reign was underwhelming- it's why he turned heel. However, when he returned last year, he received much stronger reactions from the fans- why? Because he was feuding with Paul Heyman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnt9nh4mU24 Paige needs a strong heel to rally the core audience behind her. AJ will work well for a little while but after that, she's going to need someone else- someone even better. You know what I would like to see? I would like to see that person be Stephanie McMahon. Not only does this serve to parallel Paige to the likes of Daniel Bryan and The Shield- in that she's feuding with the Authority- but, let's be honest, Stephanie is one of the best heels in WWE today, top 3 no doubt, in my opinion. Didn't Stephanie always used to say there was only one dominant female in WWE and it was her? Yep. When she screws Paige out of the title and Paige must scratch and claw to win it back? Yep. Money, money, money.

Betting on being a brilliant brother to Bodhi since 2008 (-1 Asian Handicap). Find me @LiamJJohnson on Twitter where you might find some wonderful pearls of wisdom in a stout cocktail of profanity, football discussion and general musings. Or you might not. Depends how red my eyes are.
