AEW was having a tough time in 2024. As the world fell in love with WWE's post-Vince McMahon resurgence, The Bloodline and Cody Rhodes finishing his story, AEW were rebuilding their castle in the fallout from Brawl Out. It needed stories to put them back on the map of the average fan. Toni Storm and Mariah May and the rise of Will Ospreay made a mark, but nothing had the impact of the feud between Swerve Strickland and 'Hangman' Adam Page.

Two men's hatred of one another and a quest for the AEW World Championship made for one of the most venomous feuds in company history, and things would escalate into some incredibly dark television. Swerve Strickland infiltrated Page's house, violating the sanctity of his home and providing a threat to his family. 'Hangman' would then retaliate in unforgettable fashion.

The image of 'Hangman' Adam Page sitting on the lawn of Swerve Strickland's house as it burned to the ground behind him was everywhere after it happened on the April 9th, 2024 episode of Dynamite. Page's promo was chilling, Swerve's reaction was agonising, and Khan's fearlessness to book this moment in this angle was rewarded with a feud that put AEW back on the map.
