8 Times Wrestlers Faced Themselves
4. Sin Cara
For a company that was never fully behind Rey Misterio, WWE certainly spent a lot of time and effort trying to replace him after he was gone. Their biggest push for a replacement luchador was undoubtedly the character of Sin Cara, WWE's vehicle for Mexican sensation Mistico.
But whether it was the dumb mood lighting, poor choices for opponents, the language barrier, or a failing of Mistico to adapt to the WWE ring and style, Sin Cara soon became a botch factory, handcrafting specialty artisanal botches on a regular basis.
Sin Cara was written off TV with an injury in the Money in the Bank ladder match, but soon returned with a more aggressive attitude, turning heel after attacking Daniel Bryan.
Soon after, the original Sin Cara reappeared, revealing that this new, aggressive Sin Cara was an impostor. The two Sin Caras adopted different color schemes -- becoming Sin Cara Azul and Sin Cara Negro -- and battled for the rights to be the one true Sin Cara. (Which is like The One Ring, except when you wear it, people don't want to see you.)
Sin Cara Azul prevailed, unmasking Sin Cara Negro and sending him packing. Ironically, when Mistico quit the company, his impostor went on to play the character, going on to perform as Sin Cara far longer than the original ever did.
The storytelling high point of the faceless one's career in WWE, the war of Sins Cara had the potential to be genuinely interesting, but flopped hard.
