8 Times Wrestlers Were Rejected In Their Hometowns

Towards the end of Cody Rhodes' time under the All Elite banner, it was clear that 'The American Nightmare' had very much evolved into the sort of "divisive" star that AEW fans either loved or loathed.

But would that stop the AEW EVP from doing everything in his power to convince those who'd given up on backing the son of Dusty Rhodes that he was still worth cheering for? You bet your ass it wouldn't.

And in a bid to ensure that his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia would have no choice but to completely support him during his Atlanta Street Fight with Andrade El Idolo, Cody went to some pretty extreme lengths.

On top of shedding blood and being sent through a table, Rhodes opted to launch himself through actual fire, horrifically burning himself as he suplexed his rival through a blazing table to ultimately win the day.

Yet, the crowd was still largely mixed towards the soon-to-be WWE sensation throughout much of this violent encounter, with a decent portion of the vocal Georgia audience just not being entirely convinced by Cody's resilient babyface displays.
