Almost 25 years after they reportedly did the same thing to WCW, WWE have muscled in on Ring Of Honor's plans to run Madison Square Garden.

Though McMahon's operation has favoured Brooklyn's Barclays Center in recent times, it's understood that WWE do not want anyone else using MSG in their stead. That's why ROH's Chief Operating Officer Joe Koff was forced to tell PWInsider's Mike Johnson that Honor's proposed 2019 date at the venue has been scrapped.

Boo to this, because it would have been a massive leap forward for ROH and the indy scene as a whole. It's exciting to think of live wrestling in the venue again; aside from the occasional house show, WWE barely use The Garden nowadays (though they are suspiciously running the Garden this July all of a sudden). That, apparently, doesn't mean they like the idea of anyone else running there.

This is a blatant power play from WWE. They view MSG as home turf, so they're unwilling to sit back and watch as the arena's owners lease it out to other wrestling promotions without their permission.
