8 Times WWE Recycled Show Names

2. The Great American Bash

Three years after acquiring every single one of WCW's trademarks for several million pounds short of a pittance, WWE finally decided to use one of the expired promotion's storied show names for their own purposes.

The only problem was that Vince McMahon and co. had spent the better part of a decade telling fans that their defeated rivals were a joke who'd only attained wrestling relevance on the back of the sugar of daddy Ted Turner.

As a result - and as would be the case with the faintly familiar 'Clash of Champions' name years later - WWE's 2004 Great American Bash had all the hallmarks but none of the history of its predecessor. It infamously ended with Paul Bearer being buried beneath a ton of concrete.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
