Between three hours of Raw, two hours of Smackdown, and a monthly PPV that lasts approximately three hours, you begin to get sick of the same old people. Performers like John Cena and Randy Orton have been active for 14 years, and it feels like 42 years due to the overexposure. With USA Network breathing down WWE's throat, there's likely pressure to keep the 'stars' on every week, but it ends up hurting the product. What should be novel grows stale a lot quicker. Lucha Underground only has a single hour of airtime per week to play with, so they can cycle through their performers. You'll see Johnny Mundo or Prince Puma wrestle one week, and then you might not see them wrestle again for three weeks. They'll appear in vignettes in the meantime, but the rotation keeps the audience from getting sick of anyone.
