8 UFC Careers That Ended In The Worst Way Possible

1. CM Punk Attempts To Get Redemption At UFC 225

Many people derided CM Punk's MMA debut, a first-round submission loss to Mickey Gall at UFC 203, as a shambles that should have never taken place, and argued that it was proof that the former pro wrestler could never be successful inside the Octagon.

However, it's worth considering that no legitimate fighting analysts ever believed that Punk could reach the calibre of actual UFC fighters, so Gall was always going to prove to be too much for him.

So when the UFC scheduled a fight between Punk and MMA journalist Mike Jackson, it provided the former WWE star a chance to redeem himself in the cage against an opponent closer to his experience level.

Unfortunately for Punk, this wouldn't prove to be the case, as Jackson toyed with Punk throughout the fight in an almost disdainful manner. And while Punk clearly fought hard, his passive grappling and ineffective striking made it clear that he just wasn't cut out for a career in professional fighting.
