8 Ups & 1 Down From Impact Wrestling (Jun 16)
7. Trouble, Trouble, Trouble
For a few weeks now, Impact Wrestling have been teasing something big for Slammiversary, that being the return/debut of the recent crop of WWE releases. That continued this week, as expected, with the added factor of former Impact greats, like Chris Sabin and Bully Ray, also featured in that breaking news segment.
Perhaps the biggest tease occurred on this episode, however, as Impact's Twitter account straight up said that "at least one" former World Champion will be making their grand return to the promotion at the 18 July pay-per-view. Add in the fact that EC3's theme played for a few seconds following Moose's victory over Hernandez, and it seems all but likely that 'The Top One Percent' is on his way back to the Impact Zone.
Without any doubt, EC3 needs to be back in an Impact ring. His run in NXT wasn't that bad, but his time spent beyond the black and gold brand makes that run completely forgettable. WWE's lacklustre use of the former Derrick Bateman made fans plead for his release months before it finally happened. All things considered, it's essentially confirmed that Ethan Carter III is heading home.
