8 Ups & 1 Down From WWE SmackDown (Dec 16)
5. Actual Movement On ‘Uncle Howdy’
The pause button on this writer's TV remote might be broken, because he hit it countless times when 'Uncle Howdy' appeared onscreen. Why? Well, this was the first time the character had shown up in-person on a WWE show, and yours truly thought it might be possible to peek behind the prosthetics/makeup to see who it was.
Nope, not possible.
This was compelling enough to keep things ticking along despite WWE stretching thin amounts of storyline material over a protracted period with Bray Wyatt. The whole feud is also doing wonders for LA Knight, and that's hardly a bad thing. Here's hoping Bray actually wrestles soon mind.
For now, creative can get away with pushing 'Howdy' out as a 3D model and having even Wyatt look slightly concerned that he's real. Honestly, this felt like a step forward for the story of Bray battling his inner demons - demons that have now manifested into physical form.
