Mark Andrews vs. Joseph Conners was one of the more intriguing second round matches last night. Ex-TNA high-flier Andrews was comfortably the biggest name in the tournament, but that painted a huge target on his back. Across from him was Conners: a former WCPW Champion, one of the most fervent competitors in the country, and someone out to make a name for himself on the biggest stage.

Their match ran several minutes longer than Dunne vs. Gradwell, and it continued the high-octane theme. With Andrews playing underdog to Conners' ruthless aggression, the match made for an exciting clash of styles, and Conners almost had it won with a slingshot Don't Look Down. In the end, Andrews' resilience conquered all, and he put Conners away with a perfectly executed Shooting Star Press.

Andrews is a TV-ready superstar who could slot into NXT, 205 Live, or even Raw or SmackDown next week without missing a beat. His two tournament matches up to this point proved as much, and for anyone who has followed his career thus far, it's great seeing him finally get a big chance.

Conners, meanwhile, left a tremendous impression even though he lost. If this one thing Triple H loves, it's a cunning, cerebral heel, and with the commentators pegging him as a potential future main eventer, the future looks bright.
