8 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Sep 8)

2. A Reminder, Like We Needed One

The opening to this week's Impact Wrestling had the new World Champion, Eric Young giving us all a reminder of just how sadistic he can be.

'The World Class Maniac' spoke of how injuring Rich Swann was just the beginning of his plan to take the title away from Eddie Edwards. According to him, his second reign as the World Champion was inevitable from the moment he walked back through the doors of the Impact Zone, which is a fair statement to make, given how vastly different he is now compared to when he first won the gold in 2014.

Cue Alisha Edwards' march to the ring, who eventually slapped EY across the jaw, resulting in her being positioned for a piledriver. Even though she was saved by a kendo stick wielding Tommy Dreamer just in the nick of time, that Young would even attempt such a move shows you exactly the type of guy he can be. Not that you needed to be told, of course.

Alisha's terrible acting aside, this was the perfect way to kick off the Eric Young era of Impact Wrestling. He's easily one of the most believable characters in wrestling today - the fact he's able to just go out there and do his thing is a prime example of how much trust Impact have in his abilities.
