8 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Sep 8)
3. Who's Next?
Rohit Raju is clearly loving life as the showboating X Division Champion, sauntering to the ring during Chris Bey and TJP's bout wearing quite a fetching golden shirt. 'The Desi Hitman' made it clear that he was only going to be defending his championship against those who deemed themselves worthy, hence why the match was signed off.
With both as former X Division Champions, it didn't take long for both combatants to begin busting out all sorts of new offence in order to gain the championship opportunity against Raju. Between Bey's Argentine neckbreaker and TJP's single underhook variation of the Three Amigos, it was a solid affair all around, eventually culminating in TJP's sunset flip encompassing his victory.
This wasn't necessarily a straight-up number one contender's match so to speak. However, it may as well have been, considering both are at the height of the X division. You weren't going to get anything short of a spectacular match here, regardless of the outcome.
The character development from 'The Ultimate Finesser' here was also superb, seeing as he's slowly descending into madness without the X Division Championship.
