8 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Hardcore Justice 2021

4. Thank You, Jazz

Seriously.

Jaz’s final bout in IMPACT Wrestling against Deonna Purrazzo was fine. No, it wasn’t the best match, but that’s down to Jazz’s decreased capabilities in the ring.

Therefore, it was down to ‘The Virtuosa’ to carry the match. Her work on Jazz’s arm in an attempt to set up her Fujiwara armbar was some great technical wrestling work. Tying Jazz’s legs around the ropes so she couldn’t escape was equally as good.

Deonna eventually retained the title after nailing a new move; the Queen’s Gambit (essentially a cradle piledriver where she drops the opponent on their face like a Styles Clash, for those wondering). She had escaped an array of Jazz’s signature offence to reach this point, including an attempted Bitch Clamp.

The only gripe your writer has with this match is that it was announced as being fought under old school rules, yet, there were no weapons used until the second half of the match. Even then, they weren’t really used – they were just there. Additionally, a rope break was allowed by referee Brandon Tolle. Small inconveniences, but these must be mentioned.

Deonna vs. Tenille Dashwood is now finalised for Rebellion. For now, though, a massive thank you to Jazz for her contributions to IMPACT Wrestling over the past few months. Her moment post-match with Jordynne Grace was heartfelt.
