8 Ups & 6 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Sep 29)

4. The Perfect Plan

Eddie Edwards' mystery attacker from last week was revealed this week as Ken Shamrock, with 'The World's Most Dangerous Man' being accompanied by Sami Callihan as he once again ambushed the former two-time World Champion. As it turns out, their Slammiversary alliance wasn't simply a one and done deal.

The history between Eddie and Sami dates back a couple of years, and is really the thing that turned Eddie into this unhinged character we've seen from him since. Had it not been for that baseball bat to the eye, we likely wouldn't have gotten this new and improved Eddie Edwards persona. That said, though, it's possible this story actually digs a bit deeper than it first appears.

Shamrock focused his assault on Eddie's ankle here. Now, that might seem like nothing at first glance, seeing as his finisher is the Ankle Lock, but keep in mind it's the ankle that Eric Young has focused his attacks on since returning at Slammiversary. Is it a coincidence that Eddie's ankle is again the focus of attack mere days before he challenges 'The World Class Maniac' at Victory Road?

It sets up the perfect story arc heading into Bound For Glory, at least.
