8 Ups & 6 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (June 28)

1. An Unclear Situation

Despite the World Championship match officially being confirmed for Slammiversary between champion Brian Cage and challenger Michael Elgin, alongside the fact that we've actually been told that the 'Machine' is indeed cleared for action, Dr Ariel told us this week that Cage actually isn't medically fit to compete on 7 July.

It's a step in the wrong direction, this one. The match has been heavily hyped up ever since Elgin became #1 contender back in May, so to put it in jeopardy this close to the pay-per-view is a bit of a shambles really. Even though the bout will surely be going ahead anyway, we can't just let this one slide.

Considering we had been informed a few weeks ago that Brian Cage would indeed be cleared in time, it feels slightly dubious on Impact's behalf to be hyping up the match as much as they did if (in kayfabe) they weren't entirely sure that it would definitely be happening. After all, it was Cage himself who told us he was ready to go - this was almost certainly just him ignoring pleas of the medical staff to not say or do anything unless they had cleared him.
