7. The Law Abiding Citizens Can't Escape Consequences... Or Kross
After clearly wanting to find himself in Samoa Joe's good books last week on the back of the former NXT Champion taking up his new role, Johnny Gargano took to the ring last night and proclaimed that the brand needed a new Champion to match its new management.
However, before he could provoke Karrion Kross and simultaneously toot his own horn even further, Pete Dunne and Oney Lorcan crashed The Way's campaign. Dunne even went as far as to laugh in the face of the former NXT Champion for assuming he was next in line to the latest star of WWE Main Event. Yet, determined not to be drawn into a fight and wanting to showcase the fact that The Way were a pair of Law Abiding Citizens (Peter!), Johnny Wrestling soon politely vacated the squared-circle. But not before Austin Theory had his fingers snapped for getting too close to The Bruiserweight.
Things would go from bad to worse from here as a snivelling Gargano looked for consequences from Mr. Regal and was met with the announcement of a tag match between the two teams later on in the night. Despite it taking an hour for Gargano to put his gear on, dammit!
The contest itself threw up an interesting question from the off. Who in the hell were we supposed to cheer for out of these two supposed heel units? Well, once the dust had settled on a truly scintillating encounter, it was clear that the people had found their Way and it wasn't hard to see why. Gargano and Theory wrestled out of their socks last night, pulling out seated springboard Spanish Flies in the latter's case and harnessing a babyface fire we hadn't seen for what felt like an eternity in the former's.
One-Man Army Gargano ultimately sealed the deal for his team, but was met with a painful reality check in the form of Karrion Kross smashing him from behind shortly after. If anyone can get a banger out of the champ, it's Johnny. So, out of the few options available to the all-conquering force right now, this was probably the right call for his next programme.
