A match six months in the making found itself in the main event of this week's edition of NXT goodness as NXT Tag Team Champions MSK defended their gold against the team who never lost the straps in Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch.

It'll come as a surprise to literally no one to hear that both teams wrestled out of their socks from start to finish, with MSK tapping into a new level of physicality to match the typically intense stylings of the no-nonsense challengers. It must be said that, despite not taking a bump on Tuesday nights for half a year, Burch hadn't missed a step, chopping seven lumps of sh*t out of Nash Carter's chest like he'd only been gone a day.

As the match reached its closing stages, the team NXT commentary are desperate to make you feel are under-appreciated in their own time (though it's still questionable if that's actually the case) managed to overcome a pair of gruelling submissions from the former champs, only to nail Lorcan with a jumping neckbreaker for the hard-fought victory on the night.

This emphatic win over the team many felt were given the short end of the stick in the wake of Burch's injury was merely the beginning of a dramatic closing stretch to the evening, however. Seconds after MSK wandered off into the sunset, Pete Dunne decided he'd had enough of his one-time pals, setting his new Yorkshire hound on the two and adding a few stiff shots of his own in for good measure.

So, just like that, a gritty group of ass-kickers are no more. Dunne looks set to be the sadistic Shawn Michaels to Holland's beefed up Diesel. But, where do Lorcan & Burch go from here? The Kings of NXT gave them a platform, but without it, will they got lost in the shuffle? I, for one, bloody hope not. The violent lads deserve better.
