8 Ups And 12 Downs From WWE Royal Rumble 2021
5. Lana Gets Revenge
It has been nearly two months since Lana was taken out of action by Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, thus robbing us of the logical conclusion to her two-month-long storyline of going through a table repeatedly.
The decision to spend an inordinate amount of time scripting Lana’s travails only to write her off without resolution was emblematic of WWE’s issues these days, as they seemingly can’t even follow through on the most basic storytelling elements. And so, the bullying went unpunished… until Sunday.
Lana returned at the Royal Rumble and managed to eliminate Nia Jax, who was on a roll after entering at #29. (Of course, it was just Lana low-bridging the ropes so a charging Jax just hurtled out of the ring, but it worked.) In one fell swoop, Lana managed to rob Nia of a shot at WrestleMania and got a modicum of revenge for months of torment.
So while justice was delayed, it wasn’t denied, and WWE finally followed through on something, so good on them.
