8 Ups And 2 Downs From WWE NXT (Aug 10)
2. Hit Row Send Out Mixed Messages
As Legado del Fantasma and Hit Row's recent feud has progressed over the last few weeks, it seemed fairly clear that Isaiah 'Swerve' Scott's clan were leaning closer towards the babyface side of town than Santos Escobar and his crew. Hell, the fact Scott had his grill yanked out by the former Cruiserweight Champion seven days ago only added more fuel to that fire.
Then, ironically set against the flickering light of a burning trash can, Hit Row decided to retaliate by burning a luchador mask as a way of disrespecting the rivals who had taken shots at their culture by de-grilling the North American Champion. It's not as though these actions weren't justified. However, the actual act and the way it was delivered reeked of heelish attitude, something that wasn't lost on the CWC as the audience booed the unit out of whatever tiny room/trailer they were burning clothing from.
Not for the first time on the show, the heel/face lines were needlessly blurred here. And if throwing together a programme with two characters operating in a grey area has taught us one thing in the past, it's that they tend to pale in comparison to the tried and tested piece of sh*t taking on a much-loved force.
Here's hoping the team get the fans back onside next week, or Legado give us more of a reason to boo them over the hottest faction in the land.
