8 Ups And 2 Downs From WWE NXT (Aug 31)

Lacklustre re-debuts and the (bigger) stars of tomorrow step into focus on this week's WWE NXT.

Oh boy, we need to talk about that logo, don't we?

In case you somehow - luckily - missed it, Wale unleashed a somewhat divisive peak into the developmental future of WWE's one-time black and gold brand this week; and did it look, erm, colourful. Replacing the iconic colours that have forged part of Triple H's legacy on Tuesday/Wednesday nights with a curiously familiar paint-splattered logo and colour scheme, the first pieces of NXT's reported rebrand appear to be falling into place in front of our very eyes.

On the show itself, that new direction also began to manifest itself in the form of fresh faces getting a share of the spotlight, with the likes of Duke Hudson, Ridge Holland, Carmelo Hayes, Gigi Dolin, and Jacy Jayne all being given more screen-time last night. That's not to say that Trips and the gang have immediately begun pulling the plug on what brought them to the dance in the first place as Johnny Gargano rediscovered his babyface strut and Samoa Joe revealed his plans for his and his title's future.

Ill-thought-out re-debuts and baffling finishes still marred the otherwise compelling wrestling product, though, in what feels like another case of mind-numbing deja vu. But for every pointless count-out loss there's also an absolute saint flailing around a ring in a bright yellow jacket. So, what do we really have to be mad about?
