8 Ups And 3 Downs From WCPW Refuse To Lose

2. Down - Jack + So Cal Val

How did So Cal Val know that she was going to be asked out by Jack The Jobber? Because she told us exactly what kind of man she wanted, which lead right into Primate coming out.

Three WCPW talents being beat up on one show is about two too many. It was too much of a weird tonal shift to go from the feel good Blampied beating to seeing Suzie locked in a rear-naked joke. The announcers, who were solid all night, didn’t put over the attack on an innocent woman very well, as Shane was almost immediately joking about Jack’s hat, while Cornette made fun of the fallen Jack himself. Ross then went right into hyping the next match.

If you're going to beat up an innocent woman in wrestling (and some people will never be comfortable with that as part of an angle), then you have to go all out on it, and make Primate seem like the most insane, reprehensible man alive. Maybe even give us an update on Suzie by the end of the show to really put over how serious this is.

Moving past the angle so quickly right into a comedy video with Martin Kirby just didn’t play out very well.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
