8 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Aug 5)
6. End Of An IIconic Experiment
WWE pulled the plug on its test case of having an annoying, barely wrestling tandem hold what was billed as titles to be defended across all WWE brands. The end came after the IIconics held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships for four months, which was about three months and three weeks too long.
The bout took place in a fatal four-way elimination match and saw Billie Kay & Peyton Royce eliminated first, guaranteeing new champs. The match came down to the Kabuki Warriors and Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross. While the Japanese duo might be your sentimental favorites, Bliss & Cross captured the gold as things broke down at the end.
Truthfully, Bliss & Cross are the duo with an ongoing storyline, which made them ideal to win the tag titles. Asuka & Kairi Sane will hopefully get their time with the titles soon. More importantly, the six-month-old tag titles might actually have a chance to develop and become something rather than the joke they’ve become since WrestleMania 35.
