8 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE Raw (Dec 23)

3. Does Anyone Want To Be WWE Champion?

This is something that could be a down almost any week, but we’ll give it a mention here.

Ever notice how no one ever mentions Brock Lesnar or the WWE Championship unless Brock is scheduled to be around? During the past month, we’ve had a fatal four-way match and a gauntlet match, both to determine challengers for the United States Championship. We’ve seen the title defended three times during this past month, changing hands once.

Lesnar, meanwhile has not been seen, heard or even mentioned since Survivor Series. Worse, no one has expressed an interest in being WWE Champion. Drew McIntyre said that 2020 belongs to him, but no mention of wanting the title. AJ Styles lost his US title but still has his Club with him. Randy Orton said he does what he wants, when he wants, but apparently he doesn’t want the WWE Championship. Kevin Owens, Bobby Lashley, Samoa Joe, even Erick Rowan could declare they want the title but everyone is conveniently preoccupied.

And the WWE Championship, a 56-year-old title held by only 53 men, remains invisible on WWE programming.
