If you saw NXT last week, you saw a reminder of why Tyler Breeze was the wrestler who got to face Jushin “Thunder” Liger at TakeOver: Brooklyn. Breeze battled Ricochet for the NXT North American Championship in a well-received match.

Monday, the Gorgeous One answered Dean Ambrose’s Intercontinental Championship open challenge, putting up a decent fight before predictably falling to a Dirty Deeds DDT. For months, Breeze has been little more than a named jobber, the guy “already in the ring to my left.” Half the time, he hasn’t even gotten in any offense.

So to hit a few signature moves and hang with the IC champ for a few minutes was progress. It likely isn’t leading anywhere, but we should at least acknowledge the positive development.
