8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 28)

6. Talkin’ ‘Bout My Best Friend!

When the forced pairing of Sheamus and Cesaro began months ago, this column was extremely negative about it. The belief was that WWE would clearly forget about them, shuttle them down the card or turn them into a comedy relief duo (not to mention the horrible way they were forced together after a best-of-seven series ended in a tie). But Monday, WWE’s Odd Couple got on the same page by beating up a bar full of roughnecks, breaking glasses and pool cues left and right in a brawl that was reminiscent of the old APA days. It ended with Sheamus and Cesaro toasting that they were staying tag team partners by choice.

Give credit where it’s due here: WWE stuck with the transition of Sheamus and Cesaro from rivals to brothers in arms, and the two wrestlers managed to make the gimmick work through sheer willpower and a willingness to play up the crowd, which loved the Swiss Superman but hated the Celtic Warrior.

But still, that stupid best-of-seven series ending in a bloody tie…
