8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 8)

6. Conquistador Conquers

Kurt Angle unmasked

The moment you saw the gold costume, you just had to know something was afoot.

The Conquistador made his return to WWE Monday night, and thankfully, WWE did not play it too seriously. Michael Cole immediately wondered whether it was Jose Luis Rivera or Jose Estrada (who portrayed the original Los Conquistadores tag team in the late 80s), while Corey Graves asked whether it could be Edge & Christian or the Hardy Boyz (who each took a turn as the golden duo in the early 2000s).

So it was only natural that the Conquistador won the battle royal and then unmasked as Kurt Angle, sending the Olympic gold medalist to the WWE World Cup at Crown Jewel.

Kudos for using the Conquistador gimmick sparingly and not taking it seriously, which made the outcome obvious but still enjoyable without being insulting.
