8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Sept 16)

6. Mysterio, Cesaro Just Wrestle

The Rey Mysterio Is Not Retiring Yet Tour continued Monday night, as the masked superstar had another solid match on Raw, this time against Cesaro.

Rey overcame Cesaro’s freakish strength and slick offense, turning a powerbomb attempt into a sunset bomb for the pin. But the match itself was a fun series of counters, with Mysterio and Cesaro playing to their strengths throughout.

It’s a weird dynamic, however: Mysterio isn’t involved in any kind of storyline, other than the announcers rehashing that Rey isn’t retiring because of his son and is just competing. Last week, he defeated Gran Metalik in a match that also was perfectly acceptable.

Perhaps at some point, we’ll get a change in direction, but for now, putting on a serviceable match to keep fans entertained is OK by us. Of course, that opinion could change over time.
