8 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Raw (April 20)

7. Well, That’s Something

It could come off magnificently, or it could be a spectacular train wreck, but this year’s Money in the Bank ladder matches are going to be truly unique contests.

Under the rules, all six male and female wrestlers starting out on the ground floor of WWE headquarters and fighting to the roof of Titan Towers, where there is a ring with the briefcases hung above it. So rather than have a ladder match in an empty arena, it looks like they’ll do something a little more cinema-based in an empty office building, which could give them more time to do some unique action sequences.

We saw WWE excel at this kind of taped match with the Boneyard Match at WrestleMania 36, but we also saw them falter dramatically with the Last Man Standing match between Edge and Randy Orton. So hopefully it’s closer to Undertaker/AJ Styles than the snoozefest with the Viper and Rated-R Superstar.

Plus, WWE already had started beating the tagline – “Climb the corporate ladder” – into the ground by repeating it ad nauseum in segments and interviews. Because WWE. But we’ll still give this passing grades based on potential.
